The copper switch-off project is an essential step in the Principality’s digitalization project, as requested by the Princely Government.
The copper network has reached its limits in terms of speed. In addition to being very energy-intensive, this network no longer meets users’ needs.
Monaco Telecom teams are ready to guide you through the transition to fibre. So, are you affected by the end of the copper network? Let us guide you to find out!

The copper network is the historical telecommunications network in Monaco. It has enabled Monegasques to access landlines and internet (ADSL, VDSL) via copper cables deployed throughout the Principality and which arrive at your home via an “inverted T” or RJ45 socket.
For some of you, this is where your telephone and internet box are still connected.
As part of network updating, the Princely Government and Monaco Telecom have announced their intention to gradually switch off the copper network by 2024.
This is a nationwide movement that stems from a digitalization effort that began several years ago. The copper network has indeed reached its limits and can no longer keep up with the growing demand in terms of user usage.
A fast internet connection has become essential and this is what fibre offers. The fibre network is not only the most powerful network, it is also the most robust and reliable. It is a lot less sensitive to bad weather and consumes three times less energy than the copper network.
You are affected if :
• Your equipment is connected to an “inverted T” socket
• You have a THD (high speed internet) box
• You have received a letter telling you that your current offer is going to stop
If you are affected by the extinction of the copper network, you will have to migrate your services to a fibre line subscription by the end of 2023.
If this switchover is not operated within the allotted time, your services will be cut off.

A fibre offer is on average 20% cheaper than an equivalent offer supported by the copper network.
Specific offers reserved for Monegasques and locals have been set up in conjunction with the Princely Government.
They allow you to benefit from up to €240discount per year.
Yes! The end of the copper network does not mean the end of the landline telephone.
You can therefore continue to benefit from a telephone service following the setting up of fibre in your home while keeping your current telephone number.
If you only use your landline, there is a suitable offer via the fibre network.
Do not hesitate to ask your Monaco Telecom advisor to help you with this process in our shop (9 rue du Gabian) or by telephone on 99 66 33 00 (7 days a week from 8am to 10pm).
