We are looking for a Cloud / Infrastructure engineer to join our team in charge of our private cloud based on OpenStack, deployed across three data centers in Monaco.

You will contribute to the operation and development of a platform hosting more than 2,000 VMs and supporting critical telecom services, while participating in the maintenance of a high-performance, secure, and highly available infrastructure.

Within a 6 person infrastructure team, you contribute to designing, deploying, and growing our private cloud based on OpenStack across our three data centers in Monaco, while operating our VMware virtualization platform for internal needs.

Our cloud currently supports more than 2,000 VMs, with a growth of about 20% per year, and notably hosts critical telecom solutions used by millions of customers in Europe.

The cloud also relies on several storage systems (file, block, object) and on a Veeam backup solution, whose design, operation, and evolution are managed by the team.

You play a key role in ensuring robust, secure, and scalable Infrastructure services, serving international product teams that demand high availability, performance, and data protection.

Beyond the technical aspect, you join a passionate, unite team that shares the same desire to learn, innovate, and evolve our Cloud platform together to the next level.

  • Design, deploy, and operate the architecture of our private OpenStack cloud (compute, network, storage) and VMware environments, ensuring integrity, security, and performance.
  • Actively participate in capacity planning: monitor the use of the platform (CPU, RAM, storage, network), anticipate expansion needs, and manage scaling at a rate of 20% growth per year.
  • Collaborate in the daily run with the Platform, SRE, Development, and Data teams to provide reliable environments.
  • Implement and maintain best security practices (network segmentation, host hardening, secrets management, access control, patch management) and compliance specific to a telecom operator context.
  • Automate access and the lifecycle of resources (IaaS, templates, orchestrations, self-service) through Infrastructure as Code and provisioning tools, in order to reduce 'time-to-serve' and manual errors.
  • Ensure end-to-end supervision and monitoring of the platform (metrics, logs, alerting, dashboards), document key components, and maintain an up-to-date mapping of the infrastructure.
  • Provide Level 2/Level 3 technical support on the Cloud scope (OpenStack, VMware, network, storage, backup), participate in the resolution of major incidents and in post-mortem analyses to continuously improve reliability.
  • Participate in the team's on-call system to ensure the availability of an infrastructure that supports critical and international services.
  • Contribute to technological monitoring around OpenStack, virtualization, distributed storage, and SRE/DevOps practices, and share your knowledge with the rest of the team (pairing, reviews, internal training).
  • Master’s degree (engineering school, university or equivalent) with a specialization in Computer Science, Networks, or Systems.

OpenStack & VMware:

  • Advanced Linux: solid experience in Linux administration in Production (Red Hat / CentOS) : managing services, kernel/network tuning, troubleshooting (CPU, memory, I/O, network), patching, scripting (bash, possibly Python) to automate recurring operations.
  • Networks and security: good fundamentals in TCP/IP, VLAN, routing, VPN, load balancing, NAT, understanding of East/West and North/South flows in a cloud, and implementation of security (firewalls, security groups, segmentation, system hardening, TLS certificate management).
  • OpenStack: proven experience operating OpenStack clusters in production environments, ideally on Red Hat OpenStack (Nova, Neutron, Cinder, Swift/S3, Glance, Keystone, Horizon), with a strong understanding of constraints and impacts in telecom production environments.
  • VMware vSphere / vCenter: administration of ESXi clusters (datastores, templates, snapshots, DRS/HA) and integration of the platform into the existing infrastructure ecosystem.
  • Knowledge of IaaS concepts: excellent understanding of the compute, network, storage, and security components of a private cloud (quotas, flavors, VM models, project networks, micro-segmentation, security policies), and how they come together to deliver robust environments to application teams.
  • High availability and scalability: knowing how to design and operate resilient architectures (clustering, load balancing, component redundancy, anti-affinity, recovery plan), and anticipating load increases at the level of VMs, storage, and network.
  • Cloud standards and practices: knowledge of best practices for designing and operating a private cloud (environment separation, RBAC, quota management, tagging, compliance, capacity management, and SLA/SLO management).
  • Automation and configuration management: ability to structure an infrastructure repository (Git), to use tools like Terraform, Ansible, Packer to build images, deploy standardized patterns, and ensure consistency across environments (dev, Staging, Production).

Storage and backup:

  • Understanding file, block, and object storage models, and their uses (databases, VMs, archives, media, logs, backups).
  • Knowledge of infrastructure backup solutions, ideally Veeam, to protect VMs, critical workloads, and application data
  • Veeam Backup & Replication: implementation and operation of VEEAM backup solution
  • NetApp and S3 Storage: practice with NetApp arrays (NFS, iSCSI, snapshots, clones) and S3-compatible object storage services
  • Proven experience in deploying Red Hat Openstack clusters is a big plus
  • Ability to learn and curiosity: desire to continuously improve skills in OpenStack, VMware, storage, and Cloud best practices, while staying informed about new infrastructure approaches.
  • Listening skills: ability to understand the needs of product, SRE, Network, or Security teams, to rephrase them, and to integrate their constraints into the proposed solutions.
  • Ability to make proposals: capacity to challenge the existing situation, identify areas for improvement (performance, reliability, automation, cost), and carry ideas through to their implementation.
  • Analytical mindset and sense of initiative: structured approach to complex incidents and problems, ability to make pragmatic decisions in a critical production environment.
  • Team spirit: taste for working collectively, for pair programming, for technical reviews, and willingness to share knowledge and best practices with other team members.
  • Synthesis ability: ability to produce clear documentation, to present complex technical subjects simply, and to report key points to stakeholders.
  • Technical English level: comfortable reading documentation, following RFCs, interacting with international contacts, and writing tickets or reports in English when necessary.
  • Knowing how to prioritize your work : effective management of multiple topics in parallel (projects, maintenance, incidents), with the ability to arbitrate between operational urgency and background tasks.
  • Autonomy: ability to handle a subject from start to finish, to reach out to the right people at the right time, and to progress without constant supervision.
  • Rigor and adaptability: demand for the quality of changes in production (testing, review, documentation) while being able to adapt to a rapidly changing context and priorities that can shift quickly.
  • Customer orientation and sense of service: willingness to provide a reliable and high-performing infrastructure, a posture focused on the satisfaction of user teams and, ultimately, of end telecom customers.

Note: The list of activities described above is not exhaustive and may be subject to change according to the company’s needs.
